decoration Healthcare

Despite India’s impressive economic growth, access to and quality of healthcare still have a long way to go. With a national average of just 0.7 doctors per 1,000 members of the Indian population,1 CINI’s healthcare services play a vital role in filling the gaps in the system.

CINI Health Clinics
women queue for healthcare

CINI operates a series of drop-in clinics at its headquarters, south east of Kolkata, which provide comprehensive support and advice to pregnant women and mothers of children up to the age of five. Service-users can consult doctors and health workers about pre-natal care, breast feeding, and nutrition, vaccination and childhood illnesses. The clinics teach mothers how best to look after themselves and their families and seek to engage fathers and the wider family in discussions about health. CINI’s Reproductive Health Clinic provides further support, allowing users to receive advice on and treatment for RTI/ STIs. The clinic’s Voluntary Confidential Counselling & Testing Services creates a safe space for people to discuss sensitive issues and protect themselves and their families from reproductive health problems. In order to make these developments more sustainable, the clinics also forge links with local government and community bodies, working together to realise a shared goal of improving maternal and child health.
