In addition to CINI’s work in the fields of health, nutrition, education and protection, CINI responds to major humanitarian disasters within India. It has responded to all national emergencies in the last 10 years as well as to smaller crises which have had profound effects on communities in north east India. Most recently, in the three months following Cyclone Alia in May 2009, CINI provided emergency relief to 24,000 people on Moipith Island, which was severely affected by the disaster.
